Family {Home for the Holidays} North Bend, WA

Well, it's been quite awhile since I have gotten out my lights to do an indoor portrait session. With the current weather, it was a must and since Gail and Roger had a beautiful home and an even more beautiful familly, I was honored to do it! We were able to spend two hours with Gail and Roger and their two daughters and their families. Let me not forget Great Grandma! Four generations together. I loved seeing all those sweet little children and the way they all loved to peek in where we were working and some wanted to be a part of it, some not so much. I loved even more the obvious love I could see coming from the grandparents to their grandchildren. What a gift! I hope that you will consider taking time to preserve these special moments with your family! Enjoy. Gretchen

Changing Directions with the Changing Seasons, Snoqualmie, WA {Snoqualmie, WA Photographer}

I love photography! I love learning more and more as I shoot and interact with all sorts of people. I love the joy that comes with seeing the ideas and thoughts flow out in a creative way. I was able and blessed to attend a local workshop two weeks ago that really inspired me. It was on creativity and lighting and the like. I learned a few new things, but the main thing that inspired me was working with the teachers (Stevn and Corinne Alavekios) and also meeting the other students. Hearing other peoples stories, where they are at, and where we all want to be heading. I felt that we were a group that had a wonderful experience together beyond just the basic day. That was a good, grounding, creativity stirring feeling. Sometimes, I have waited for someone to hire me in order to begin a process of creativity in my artwork of photography. I realize that I feel a part of me is dying almost when I get stagnant.  I also knew I wanted to take some new inspirations into my work from ...

Puppy Love {Korf family takes the dive!}

I have never had a puppy or a dog my whole life. My kids have been begging me for years to get a puppy. I have been a firm believer in not making my life any more complicated and therefore, not adding a puppy into our family. Beside, I thought we would have more kids. We did not have more kids and therefore the present 3 decided that it was time to mercilessly beg for a puppy. Well, actually, I instigated the idea that we should look into some free dogs someone lost their house and needed to find good homes for. Surprisingly, my husband said, "Go ahead and call." Those dogs were not available, but the spark of wanting a dog had begun. The kids were totally stoked! Well that was more than 3 months ago. We weren't sure if we might go on a missions trip and we were praying about a dog all this time. Anyway, today, the time was right and the breeder I had visited had three males left still and they were ready to come home yesterday! (Thanks to Donna at Mt Si Golde...

Wes, Senior Pictures {Fall City, Natural Light, Old Barn}

We planned to meet Wes in Fall City at an old barn Joe had spotted last summer while driving around. This barn was up on blocks and looked like it would be soon torn down. It was a sunny, warm evening. We had about an hour of good sunlight left before the radiant sunshine went behind the hillside. We had a great time with Wes, laughing and walking around the property. I figured it wasn't his favorite thing to do, but he wanted to make his mom happy and I think he had a pretty good time in the end. At least I will flatter myself in thinking so;-) We got some amazing shots. Just as we were walking through the barn to go towards the trees, the sun shone under the roof and I said, "hold it right there, it's amazing and perfect light!" In fact, his Dad told me it looked like it would have been added with photoshop. Rest assured, it was real. Wes will even vouch for me on that one! Enjoy, Gretchen

Wedding Sneek Peek, Mike and Helene {Fall City and Duvall, WA}

Last weekend, Joe and I were happy to be able to capture the blessing ceremony of Mike and Helene. They got married in Leavenworth a year ago and wanted to bless their ceremony in the church. They are two wonderful people, funny and in love. It was very  nice to share the special day with them and their joy with each other and their friends and family certainly has not diminished over the last year. The love radiated from them throughout their close friends and family throughout the ceremony and bbq reception. It threatened to rain and we got a little sprinkled, but all went well and I am very glad to share with you these sneek peeks. We are busily working on our images from the weddings of the summer and hope to have them all wrapped up in October which is quickly upon us. We are currently booking for senior pictures for one or two more weeks and also for family Christmas pictures that can be used on the very wonderful, fancy cards we produce. Call us today to reserve you...

Not a wedding sneek peek {Fall City, WA Natural Light}

We were hired about a month ago to photograph a blessing ceremony and following bbq reception in Duvall and Fall City respectively. I was very happy to do the job, the bride seemed very sweet and laid back about everything as they had already been married a year and this was a blessing ceremony (more on that in another post, the sneek peek post)  These images are of people at the reception who wanted a professional portrait. The weather held out and we had a great time. My favorite was the teen boy who sat in the car. His mom came to us and said, "Would you follow me to the car to get my boy out so he will take a picture with me?" "Sure, we said." So off we went and he begrudgingly came out, removed his hands from his pockets and I think we got a few sweet images of his mom and him. He earlier, had said to me "That looks like a cannon", referring to my camera with a large and long lens. I joked, "it IS a Canon! See it says right here!" I pointed...
