Baby Juncos, Day 2

Today my 8 yo daughter went out to the yard to jump on the trampoline. When she came back in she told me something she noticed. "The daddy bird scolds me and his voice is lower. When the mommy bird scolds me, it sounds higher." I thought that was an amazing observation! We are blessed today to have another sunny day. This makes three in a row I think! It's something we have been waiting for as this has been a gray drizzly spring here at the base of the Cascade Mountains. When I went out to take pictures of the baby juncos, my daughter found a lady bug too! First one of the year. She gathered it up and brought it inside and is putting it in a jar for a "pet" right now! AH Spring, almost summer, how we love thee! Enjoy~ Gretchen It's so amazing to see their little beaks. You can even see their tongues. I hope you aren't grossed out. Baby birds have huge, closed eyes and only the tiniest bit of feather down. They open up when they get the light on t...

Outdoor Seattle Area Photographer. How we deal with the rain.....

Living near Seattle and being outdoor photographers primarily, has it's challenges. For one, I get jealous of my photographer friends posts in California in April. They are all like, "I had so much fun at our shoot today. It was sunny and 70! Perfect weather!" I groan, out loud...."Come on sunshine!!" Then I start bargaining, "OK, I'll take just misting rather than pouring rain...Please God! Send some wind." In fact, I always let my clients know that we will schedule their sessions, but it's possible rain will cancel. It's OK, in the end, we really end up with a break in the weather most of the time and some really cool clouds and really amazing sunbeams. So, today, I had a family session scheduled. I was literally looking at the weather forecast of rain rain and more rain. I kept hoping it would pass. I called Geni this morning an hour before and consulted with her...."What do you think Geni?" When we talked an hour ...

About me {Snoqualmie, WA photographer}

I have been updating my website and blog and branding myself. No, I did not burn a mark into my flesh with a hot iron...It means choosing what you want to portray and then making your blog and web "storefront" reflect this. Do I want to be seen as serious or fun? Elegant or trendy? Modern or Vintage? What words would describe me? These are the kind of things I have been mulling over these last few months. Who would have thought this would be so hard? Growing is hard I suppose. You must clear away the "weeds", plow the "ground", choose and plant new "seeds", then you must cultivate that garden of your creativity. Taking time most days to consider all of this has been a great way to define myself. I'm not quite done, but as many of you know, ReSTARt with Jasmine Star has been an amazing catalyst for the last three months. Below are the images I have collected that represent me for my "Photo Safari" assignment. I have been challenged a...

Hello Sweet Baby Ryder! {In home studio} Portraits Snoqualmie WA

Oh I had such a fun and hot time photographing Ryder Thomas Warren last week. He was such a trooper after two doctors appointments. He was already ten days old, so we didn't want to wait too much longer to keep his sleepy new babyness for his portraits. I warmed up the house and boy was it hot! I wanted him to be very comfortable for his pictures, so I didn't mind. Sigh, he's just such a sweetie. His mommy, Julie, was so patient. I was delighted to do Ryder's portraits. She was given the session by Therese Duvall who won our FB auction to supports Krohn's disease a few months ago. What a sweet lady! I showed the images to Julie and Brian yesterday. Julie was so happy, she kept saying how it put a smile on her face to see the slideshow and could she come model Ryder for me again?? How's that for a happy customer!  Hope you are staying cool, it's been an unusual 100 degrees here in Snoqualmie. Almost time to jump in the lake. Whew! Gretchen

David+Lashonda= True Love {Snoqualmie Salish Weddings}

We were privileged to photograph the wedding of David and Lashonda over the weekend. It was not looking good all week for their outdoor wedding at the Salish, but what do you know? Saturday was GORGEOUS! I even got hot! I wasn't even wearing my coat, I promise. This sweet couple and their small wedding were darling. The bride was full of personality and every time she talked her eyes lit up. She exclaimed her excitement many times over the few hours I was with her. She looked beautiful in her ivory dress with her hair pulled back. Her flower girls were also the cutest and had the most amazing hair do's. I will have to try those on my girls soon! I will not forget to mention the ring bearer. He was such a handsome little man! Their wonderful family joined them in blessing their special day and then after a short ceremony, all enjoyed a wonderful meal like only the Salish can provide. Enjoy these sneak peeks. Hopefully the sunshine will be back with us soon! Blessings, Gretchen

New Prices for Jan 2011!

We have updated our website to reflect the new winter pricing for 2011! Yes, 2011! Can you believe it? It seems easier this year to go from 2011, than it did last year to jump from 2009 to 2010, doesn't it? I think it the teen digits. We enjoyed many blessings in 2010 and we thank the Lord for each and everyone of them, knowing that without His mighty hands all around us, filtering everything that comes our way, we would be somewhere else altogether. Praises to the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. We are also so very thankful for all of you our friends, family and clients who keep encouraging us and bringing so much joy to our lives as we spend time photographing your special families and events! Please go to www.GretchenFawnPhotography.com , click on the "new pricing" button and read through our new pricing and format to digital. We think you will be as excited as we are. There is also a new incentive for referring your friends and family as a special thank you to you, our...
