Fleeting Moments, Time passed

Just remembering about one year ago....this wedding was such a celebration for these two. One of the sweetest parts, looking back, is knowing that although Grandpa went to be with the Lord a few months ago, we were able to capture some special moments with this sweet sweet man and his family. See him in the back, basking in the moment his granddaughter kisses her husband? How Grandpa is holding his granddaughters hand here is getting me teary. I could tell he had so much love for his family. I am so honored to have captured this portrait with him. He will be very missed. Gpa gave me a big smile in this one. What a sweet sweet man! Here's Gpa with his great granddaughter, who is a twin!  Be thankful for every moment you have with your loved ones, you never know the number of your days upon the Earth! We are happy to be a part of preserving special moments with loved ones to be heirloom portraits for generations. Enjoy! Gretchen

What's Your Inspiration?

I love to look around on the internet. MOST things I come across do not inspire me much. (Don't we all have a massive filter?) It takes a lot to inspire! Especially in the visual realm. Actually relaxing and laughing are what inspire me the total most! Here is a link to a sight I came across today that inspired me. I hope you like it too! http://greenweddingshoes.com/simply-bloom-is-simply-fabulous/ Enjoy! Gretchen

Wedding Portraits at Snoqualmie Train Station {A and K}

Snoqualmie United Methodist church. What a beautiful little chapel. Snuggles for Mom before the wedding! The bride's daughter. What a beautiful little girl. Don't you just love her flowers? As I am working on wedding images today, it struck me something I love about working with couples getting married. I love the hope that comes from a wedding day. The thought of two lives joining together. The thoughts of 30 years down the road, the ensuing celebration at their long lived marriage. The thought of growing through the hard times together and enjoying so many dinners, parties, holiday celebrations. I know it's not all roses all the time, but I enjoy thinking of that too. Of how God will work to grow this couple together in order to show them of Himself. It's one of the amazing things about being a human on this earth, is seeing the glorious riches of Christ in each other and in nature that He created.  The flowers in the bouquets, the children with excited e

Sunny sunny! 2 days in a row

So many things to do now that homeschool is officially over. I am looking out my window at the canterbury bells blossoming, cherry trees growing and seeds finally starting to sprout. I am trying to just enjoy those things, but they get easily overshadowed by the weeds that I see need weeding, the grass that needs mowing and the shrubs that need pruning. I try to live in that place where some things push me to get motivated but don't take away joy, where I don't have to make it perfect, but I still enjoy it and where chores aren't the only things on my list. It's a major amount of work both in doing and not doing to achieve this. It's too easy to get fixated on the negative. I always remind myself and my kids that we have a choice to make about whether the proverbial cup is half empty or half full! Perspective. What helps you stay in the "zone"? I find sunshine, not pushing myself too early in the morning and laughing instead of getting mad help me. I also

Wedding {A and K} Snoqualmie, WA

Snoqualmie, Washington is such a quaint town. The marriage of A and K was last Saturday in the local church. It's right on the main road and has a tall white steeple. They don't make churches quite like this anymore. It was built around 1914 I was told by the church wedding coordinator with pride. Upstairs there is a small communion room with a kneeler, small altar and a beautiful stained glass window from the turn of the century. It cast a beautiful light on the bridal portraits. The bride was able to get ready in another small room at the top of the stairs and descended like Rapunzel from her tall tower to marry her handsome prince. The two were wed in the quaint chapel in front of close family and friends. Because the train station was right next to the church, we were able to take portraits before the wedding of this sweet couple. We so enjoyed working with them and walking in and out of the trains. Here's a sneak peek of some of their portraits! More to come in the n
